The most prized dry white Bordeaux is from Château Haut-Brion and will fetch more than $1000 per bottle in a good vintage year.
Château d'Yquem is the only Sauternes classified as a First Growth (or Premier Cru Supérieur).
Thomas Jefferson was fond of Château d'Yquem, he personally ordered 250 bottles of the 1784 vintage, as well as additional bottles for George Washington.
In 2011 a single bottle of 1811 Château d'Yquem was auctioned for $117,000, making it the most expensive white wine ever sold!
