Graceful and finessed, this polished ’13 Pian del Ciampolo offers Sangiovese's trademark red and blue fruits and the grape's jaunty acidity, as well as Montevertine's telltale understated, skillful hand. Mostly Sangiovese with a kiss of Colorino and Canaiolo, the organically grown Pian del Ciampolo derives from the same vineyards as the estate's flagship wine, Le Pergole Torte, which are 44 rolling acres located in the municipality of Radda in the heart of Chianti. Like its big-ticket big brother, Pian del Ciampolo shows the elegant, finessed and graceful side of Sangiovese, but at pricing and in a style that allows you to enjoy Montevertine early and often. |
