This is more than a deal—it’s a window into the future of Washington wine. Crafted by Matías Kúsulas, one of the state’s most exciting winemakers and IWR’s Washington Winemaker of the Year, Reverence 2020 blends Grenache (88%), Mourvèdre (8%), and Syrah (4%) into a silky, fruit-forward stunner.
Kúsulas’s journey is anything but ordinary: a former Chilean Marine officer and naval engineer, he pivoted to enology with training in Bordeaux and Montpellier before making wine in France’s Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu, as well as South Africa and New Zealand. Today he leads Gård Vintners on the Royal Slope AVA, crafting terroir-driven wines that balance innovation and tradition. He also helms boutique labels VALO and Massalto, each pushing boundaries in their own way.
Reverence 2020 explodes with aromas of blueberry, stewed strawberry, sugarplum, vanilla, and anise, then unfolds on the palate with minerality, cured meats, and white pepper. A fan calls it a “great Rhone-style blend” with depth, balance, and savory complexity.
This is a chance to experience a wine crafted by a winemaker whose global perspective and fearless spirit are shaping Washington’s wine landscape—at a price that won’t last.
