  1. The most prized dry white Bordeaux is from Château Haut-Brion and will fetch more than $1000 per bottle in a good vintage year.

  2. Château d'Yquem is the only Sauternes classified as a First Growth (or Premier Cru Supérieur).

  3. Thomas Jefferson was fond of Château d'Yquem, he personally ordered 250 bottles of the 1784 vintage, as well as additional bottles for George Washington.

  4. In 2011 a single bottle of 1811 Château d'Yquem was auctioned for $117,000, making it the most expensive white wine ever sold!

Bordeaux is the largest wine producing region in France and is home to some seriously fabulous white wines. These wines are mostly blends and are composed primarily of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc followed by Muscadelle and a few oth  White Bordeaux is usually lightly oaked and often possesses vibrant acidity and elegant citrus notes that lean toward white grapefruit. These brilliant whites are exquisite when paired with scallops, roast chicken with tarragon, asparagus quiche or salads with shaved fennel.
