Sémillon

Citrus fruits, flowers and herbs
Principally grown in Bordeaux and Australia, this golden-skinned grape brings deep color to its wines and makes sweet white Bordeaux and blends well with its sibling, Sauvignon Blanc.

In the region of Bordeaux, Sémillion is responsible for the famous dessert wine Sauternes, in which it is the principal grape. This low maintenance grape is also a minor constituent in the dry blend - Bordeaux Blanc.

Sémillion has managed to settle down quite nicely elsewhere, particularly Australia, where it is responsible for some very distinctive whites. Here it makes both sweet and dry wines, oaked and unoaked.

Depending on where it is grown and the winemaking style, Sémillion flavors and aromas include citrus fruits, flowers, ripe fruits, minerals and lanolin.
