Syrah has shown to be successful growing in vineyards all over Argentina, from the high, cool altitudes, to warmer, sunny regions. Once used mainly as a blending partner for other grapes, Argentinian Syrah is becoming a wine to watch in its own right.
If you want lots of dark fruit, peppery and savory flavors, and firm tannins, look to cooler regions in the foothills of the Andes like Uco Valley or Luján de Cuyo. For a bit richer and juicier wines, check out wines with Mendoza and San Juan on the label.
Argentinian Syrah likes big, hearty food to keep it happy. Think roasted lamb, venison, winter stews, and pepper-heavy sauces.
