Château Ksara Red 1995

All reviews

Ksara is Lebanon's oldest, biggest winery. This Bordeaux blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot. 12 months in new oak. I last tried it a year ago, and it remains a judgement of "close, but not quite". Blackcurrant, raspberry, blueberry. Leather, vanilla, a sprinkling of Lebanese spice. Acid and tannins prominent, making it tart and chewy, very dry. Seems less ripe and sun-drenched than many Lebanese reds. I prefer Ksara's other reds. Is Lebanon the right terroir for a Bordeaux Blend?
Huge blackberry, spices, leather and vanilla notes, with a hint of oak too. Red fruit, spicy and oak taste with a little biting acidity. Full bodied. A pleasant surprise this.
Very equilibrated and feels and tastes like a Bordeaux.
My first and potentially last Lebanonsese wine, it had a kick, quite acidic, echos of damsons and tannins but a bit too ordinary
