In the late 1850s, a Hungarian named “Count” Agostin Haraszthy settled in Northern California and purchased the ranch that would become Buena Vista, California’s first premium winery, setting the stage for the region to become what it is today: a benchmark producer for fine Cabernet Sauvignon. Today, Chateau Buena Vista is under the watchful eye and meticulous care of Jean-Charles Boisset who wasted no time in revitalizing the winery following his 2011 purchase of the estate, pumping a considerable amount of money into upgrading the winery buildings.
Harkening back to its original owner, Boisset himself loves to point out that while visiting Bordeaux, Haraszthy noted that, “Cabernet Sauvignon is its unsurpassed grape; the wine made of it possesses splendid color and an exquisite bouquet.” Much the same can be said of the Chateau Buena Vista 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley.
Aging 28 months in 39% new French oak, this blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, and a splash of old school 1% Mission grapes delivers a robust, rich, and lush wine. “Tasting this wine was a treat,” raves Vivino user Ian M. who says, “it offers some of the most velvety tannins I’ve come across.
