酒款描述 | As singular as unexpected, the 2013 harvest was very good, even though it did not seem it would provide this way a priori. From this harvest we produced Mas Giné, the fruit of a capricious farm. In Mas Giné you will find everything in its proper measure; all the typical aromas of the area, red and black fruits, nuances of plum, thyme and spices. The Mas Giné wine is produced from the varieties Grenache and Carignan. These grapes come from hundred-year-old vines with a very small production, located in Gratallops. The different varieties are separately fermented in stainless steel containers. Some weeks later the wine undergoes the malolactic fermentation. This way, a finer and rounder wine is obtained. After that, the wine is kept in new French oak barrels for a period of approximately 12 months. Once this process is completed, the ‘coupage’ and the bottling take place. The result is a quite complex dry red wine. It has the Priorat character with its present minerality and therefore it is very representative of the area where the grapes have been grown. In general, it is classified as very elegant and balanced. It has a good acidity level and lots of aromatic concentration combined with oak flavours. It has also all conditions to retain its qualities and improve at least for the next 25 years. |
The traditional grape grown in this region is Garnacha (or Grenache). Small plantings of Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are common as well.
Wines crafted from Garnacha are often described as intense, rich and powerful. In the Priorat, the wines are especially so, due in part to unique black volcanic soils and long, hot summers.
